David Valente
Founder of Valente Productions, an immersive technology studio in Toronto building real-time and extended-reality systems for critical care, humanitarian response and hazardous operations - and the commercial titles that share the same pipelines.
Twenty years across six sectors
David founded Valente Productions in Toronto in 2017, and the studio's immersive line now spans Immersive Learning Systems (ILS) and Immersive Training Solutions (ITS) for institutional audiences alongside commercial serious games. That work is built on Unreal Engine 5.8 and Unity Engine 6.6, and reaches PC, console, standalone headset, room-scale PC XR and tabletop AR.
On Keeping the Peace his role is narrative, creative and technical authority - guiding the direction of the project. Alongside the studio he is completing a Master of Digital Media at Toronto Metropolitan University, researching haptics and environmental sensory feedback for tactile immersive learning.
Twenty years of live entertainment and sport sit underneath the immersive work: event production, technical direction and run-of-show across festivals, activations and tournaments, for event properties and business interests across the Greater Toronto Area.
The longest-running of these is a relationship with the SickKids Foundation through Heatwave for SickKids, where the studio produced the tournament scorekeeper and timer app before turning the program into a video game titled Heatwave Volleyball across two funded research phases.
The third strand is project management consulting and film production - scoping, procurement and delivery for multi-year programs, and the discipline that lets institutional and commercial pipelines run side by side without either slipping.
In practice that means winning and running funded industry-academic partnerships, contracting with defence and government education institutions, and placing student cohorts on real production pipelines.

A major research project completing December 2026 - an XR vertical slice using haptics and environmental sensory feedback, aimed at tactile Immersive Learning Systems (ILS) and Immersive Training Solutions (ITS). The haptics work is intended for peacekeeping training operations, with further application to healthcare simulation.
The vertical slice is built from the Keeping the Peace narrative and storytelling pipelines, with David working on narrative and storytelling directly.
This is active academic research, not a studio service currently on offer.
Where the pipelines come from: Keeping the Peace →David is a volunteer researcher on the IMMERSE research project with Sunnybrook. This is distinct from the major research project above, and distinct from the studio's client work.
Two lines of work, one team
Valente Productions runs two distinct pipelines. Institutional simulation work - Immersive Learning Systems (ILS) and Immersive Training Solutions (ITS) - is built for NGO and government audiences. Commercial serious games are built for the commercial market.
Both are engineered on Unreal Engine 5.8 and Unity Engine 6.6, and both are delivered with the project discipline of a production company.
Open to conversations
On partnership, commercialization and program leadership - or on a project the studio might be right for.
